The Soldier Advocacy Group (SAG) was created by the non-partisan, non-profit Military Spouses for Change (MSC)(www.militaryspousesforchange.com). MSC secured its 501c3 status in July of 2008.
The goal of the Soldier Advocacy Group is to help soldiers obtain the appropriate mental and physical health care to which they are entitled. Too often combat injuries such as PTSD are unidentified and untreated and soldiers are faced with misconduct or other disciplinary discharges instead. In other cases, soldiers have serious medical conditions but are deemed fit for duty and deployment in order to maintain troop levels; thus compromising the health and safety of not only that soldier, but of the soldiers with whom he or she will be fighting. In these cases, we intervene with the Command to ensure that the soldier is properly evaluated for his or her medical conditions and treated accordingly.
